Are you an experienced Senior or Deputy looking to take the next step in your career? I’m working with a well-established care provider seeking a passionate Deputy Manager for a 5-bed children’s residential home in Dewsbury.

The home is rated Good in all areas by Ofsted and has an excellent reputation with the local community and external professionals. It supports young people with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, and complex communication needs, creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

About the Role:

As Deputy Manager, you’ll support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, leading and developing the staff team to deliver exceptional care and experiences for the young people.

You’ll be supporting up to 5 young people, many of whom are non-verbal and communicate using alternative methods such as Makaton, Smartbox, or picture boards. Your leadership will help the home to continue providing a nurturing, empowering environment where every child can achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading shifts and supporting staff to provide person-centred care
  • Promoting a nurturing, safe environment in line with the home’s values and care plans
  • Supporting with rota planning, training, and development of the team
  • Assisting in maintaining compliance with Ofsted and safeguarding standards
  • Supporting the young people to access community activities, celebrations, and events
  • Ensuring a culture of positivity, creativity, and high standards across the home

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working in a children’s residential care setting
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence (essential; a company car is provided for work use)
  • Ability to work a range of shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • A passion for working with children with learning disabilities and autism, and a creative, positive approach to overcoming challenges
