About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join our 3-bed children’s home in Lewes, East Sussex. The home supports children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where they can thrive.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to develop independence, build positive relationships, and achieve positive outcomes in all aspects of their lives.
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting.
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Support young people with their daily routines, education, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Encourage and promote independence, life skills, and personal development.
- Implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support young people during periods of emotional distress and challenging behaviour using approved therapeutic approaches.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development.
Requirements
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Passion for working with children and young people.
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work the rota pattern, including sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with children and young people in residential care, education, youth work, or a similar setting.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
